Forest Hydrotherapy Circuit
A Private Spa Ritual on Salt Spring Island
Hydrotherapy Is an Ancient Wellness Ritual Dating Back Thousands of Years
The Forest Hydrotherapy Circuit is our signature spa ritual: A private cycle of cedar hot tub, sauna, cold plunge and forest rest, set deep in the island trees of Salt Spring Island, BC. Reserved exclusively for you or your group, this is a self-guided journey of heat, cold and stillness designed to calm the nervous system, ease the body and quiet the mind.
At Solace, each session is completely private, self-directed and prepared just for you. The cycle of hot, cold, and rest is revitalizing, releasing tensions in the mind and body. This Spa Ritual session is designed for 3-4 cycles depending on your individual wellness preferences and session length.
Also known as contrast therapy or hot-cold therapy, this practice has been used across cultures for centuries to restore balance and renew energy.
There are four key phases to the cycle:
Cedar Hot Tub & Sauna
Discover a state of calm in the heat
Hot Tub & Sauna Benefits
Dilates blood vessels on the skin’s surface, reducing blood pressure.
Increases circulation to the skin and muscles.
Increases the body’s temperature, causing considerable sweat, helping to cleanse the skin and purify the body’s energy.
Time in the cedar hot tub and sauna prepares the body to release, soften and let go.
Cedar Cold Plunge
A cold pool held at 8–10 degrees celsius
Cold Plunge Benefits
Cold water helps to release endorphins and increase your heart rate.
This refreshing experience promotes a shift in blood pressure, encouraging the body to flush toxins and release muscle tension.
The cedar cold plunge is where the circuit does its deepest work, sharpening the senses and leaving you clear and invigorated.
Forest Lounge
Hydrate, settle your mind, nourish
Benefits of Rest During Hydrotherapy
After spending time in hot and cold environments, it is recommended to rest the body to help stabilize blood flow and heart rate.
This stage is where your body will benefit most from the hot, cold, and rest cycle.
It is a time for the body and mind to rest and relax.
You may want to bring a book, meditate or just lounge and do nothing.
Wrapped in the quiet of the forest lounge, this is the moment the benefits of the hot and cold therapy settle into the body.
Repeat
Complete the cycle 2–4 times during your session

The Benefits of Hydrotherapy
Regular hydrotherapy and contrast bathing are associated with improved circulation, reduced muscle tension, lower stress, better sleep and a strengthened sense of calm. More than anything, the Forest Hydrotherapy Circuit offers something increasingly rare: uninterrupted time to slow down, in a setting that asks nothing of you.
How to Prepare
For groups, we recommend wearing your swimsuit under your clothes so you can make the most of your session time. However, forest hydrotherapy is clothing-optional. When you enter the hydrotherapy area, ensure you cleanse your skin in one of the three showers with our Forest Body Wash.
This step is especially important if you have just received a massage or are wearing moisturizers, sunscreens or body oils. This helps maintain the spa waters throughout your session.BOOK NOW
