If you’ve been searching for or curious about thermal spas but aren’t quite sure what to expect, you’re not alone. This wellness ritual has been around for thousands of years, and it’s having a well-deserved moment right now (which, in our opinion, is here to stay for good!). And, there’s a good reason for that.
A thermal spa is a wellness experience built around the deliberate use of heat, cold, and rest. Your body moves through these contrasts in a cycle, and that rhythm is what makes the whole journey so effective.
Hot environments dilate blood vessels and encourage circulation. Cold water does the opposite, sending blood inward and triggering a release of endorphins. The rest phase lets everything settle, encouraging your body to find equilibrium and return naturally to homeostasis. Repeat this a few times, and by the end, you’ll feel like a different person inside and out.
Our Forest Hydrotherapy Circuit, Salt Spring Island’s Go-To Thermal Spa Circuit
At Solace Organic Spa, our Forest Hydrotherapy Circuit is a private thermal spa experience set entirely in the forest. You get a cedar hot tub, a sauna with a window overlooking the trees, a cold plunge and a forest lounge for rest between rounds.
What Makes Solace Different from Other Thermal Spas?
Most thermal spas are beautiful, but they’re also often shared, leaving you cycling through with strangers, timing your plunge around other people, and trying to relax in a communal space.
At Solace, your session is completely private. Whether you’re coming solo, as a couple, or with a group, the circuit is yours for the entire session. That changes the experience significantly. No rushing, no waiting, no performing relaxation for an audience, no distractions out of your control.
Salt Spring Island also carries a particular kind of quiet, and our hydrotherapy spa sits right inside it. Old trees, forest sounds, and the feeling of being away from responsibilities, all within one cold and hot spa.
Planning Your Visit
Sessions run 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on if they’re solo, for two or with a group, as well as the time of day. Add-ons, including fire ambience, charcuterie, spa chocolates, non-alcoholic beverages and kombucha are also available.
